Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Bit of progress to report. Got the chassis set up for the blown coupe. It will run a stock wishbone at the front and a split one out back. I had to move the rear spring forward to clear the wheels and so had to shift the mounting location as well.
Also got some paint on my deuce. The colour didn’t photgraph real well but it’s a very early 60’s turquoise green. I’m thinking yellow for the wheels...I think Anthony would agree...?

Really nice colour Bryce. Not sure about the yellow, would need to see it.

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Been working a bit on my channelled ’34 over the weekend. I found some resin brakes for the front, cobbled together a Y-block running twin fours for power and found a cool bumper/plate assembly that fits the rear perfectly!
Still not sure about colour for this one or whether I should run white or black wall tyres. Hoping to make these decisions as the project gets closer to completion.

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Seems like ages since I had anything to post in here. I am still cracking away at these, but I gotta admit, trying to finish three builds at the same time does slow progress down. I have been doing a lot of painting lately as the weather has been conducive and it may be my last opportunity before winter sets in.
Here’s some quick and dirty mock-ups to show my progress.
And to make matters worse, I stole the four bars out of my Deuce kit and started another ’34. This is based on the Revell snaptite kit and will be built as a curbside version of Jake Jacobs’ coupe. So far I have narrowed a ’37 truck grill to fit and added some louvred hood sides from a Revell deuce roadster.
So what became of the grill-less ’37 truck I hear you ask…? Well, that’s a project I’ll save until the next update!

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Likes I said, Bryce you have waaaaaay to much spare time!
Good to see you narrowed the truck grille to fit as that's exactly what Jake did.
A point of contention on your chopped 5 window, did you extend the front frame horns? Why I ask is because they look twice as long as they should be to correctly depict a model 40 Ford chassis.

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Thanks for all the nice words and showing so much interest in these projects guys.
Yeah it was narrowed but from what I've read recently in Rodder's Journal Jake didn't actually do it himself. He just took it off one of the many 50s rods he had sitting around his house at the time. Same with the nailhead engine - it came out of the Niekamp roadster. Seems this one was very much an assembling of loads of classic hot rod parts. Maybe that's what makes it such a perfect hot rod. I guess those old bombs weren’t really worth much in the 70s. Would love to get in my time machine, go back and snap up a few…
Yep - I wanted to exaggerate this aspect and make them more prominent. The kit chassis' frame horns look a bit undersize to my eye and the radiator location almost makes them disappear.
Yeah I’m running cowl steering on this one. I want it to have that no-nonsense, all-business, utilitarian, slat flat racer look.

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Been plugging away at Jake's coupe during the week when time permits and illness abates. Got the chassis pretty much set up with dropped tube axle and four bars from a Revell deuce up front and ’37 Ford axles, quick change centre and model A spring out back. Also narrowed a set of AMT deuce wires for the front. The rears are from the 1/24 scale Monogram woody kit. Tyres are big ‘n’ little radials from my stash.
I think I’m going to take a break from this preliminary work for a while and try to finish off the blown deuce coupe now so I can post something on the shelf this month!

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Thanks KC. Another quick update on this thread. Some quality time at the bench this arvo got my blown deuce coupe motor assembled. This is a combination of parts from various AMT small blocks. The carbs are from the flathead option in the ’34 and let’s see if anyone can work out where the carb toppers are from….

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Those tailamps are way out of scale and don't accurately replicate model 40 tailamps. I've used then up the other way as bell style aircleaners but just can' bring myself to use tham as tailamps.
For a more accurate rendition when building a stock-ish model 40 the tailamps from AMTs 36 coupe are a better choce.

Re: Three 34s and a blown deuce coupe!
Got my chassis and wheels sorted and the engine installed. The hair pins are from the snap tite '34 – rest is out of box. I added a bullet to the centre of the steelies and used some BMF on the lug nuts to try and get the look I was after. The trim rings are AMT '40 Ford front and Revell Rat Rod rear. Not far to go now...
