What am i building? *now i know*

Hi guys, i am building this for Gas 12, it has had a roof chop, the boot section has been chopped and lowered as it was too fat after the roof chop,
have filled in the wheel arches and am in the middle of doing a front end modification, the problem is , WHAT DID I START WITH?? It was just an
old body with damage to start with and when a mate asked me what is it, i didn,t have a clue, late 40's merc? ford? chevy? can some of you
gurus give me a clue please.

Ihave no progress pics as camera was not working when the chopping was being done. Still needs lots of work yet.

my guess would b the AMT 50 ( 51 ) chevy fleetline

yep I say chevy too.bits on the sides look odd.

Something says '51 chubby to me too, just the side skirts, but if I were betting, Id say chebby '51....

The bits on the side are just an attempt to change it up a bit, have also added 6mm round tube to the bottom of the rear guards and around the rear pan to lower the body and give it the "tail dragger" kind of look. Will keep playing with ideas, just hinged the bonnet sideways, made a fire wall and flat panel for under the hood to hide the hinges, next is going to
be a flat roof lining to hide all the joins in the roof when it was chopped.


Heres the basic idea of the front mods, have found a bumper and grill insert bar that will work nicely too, lots to do yet though,
