'63 Custom Vette Empty '63 Custom Vette

Post by 70cudatj Sat 22 Jun 2013, 5:20 pm

This one was started a while ago but put aside while I finished the '40 Ford.
It's an old AMT Vette that I built (read: stuffed up) many years ago. And you know me, I'm a restorer so this one's been stripped and on the road now to "Custom Town".
This is the inspiration...

This is what I started with....

This where it's heading...
'63 Custom Vette DS994
So far I've made a custom grille, shaved the front indicators and made custom tail lights and exhaust tips...
'63 Custom Vette DSC000a1
'63 Custom Vette DSC0cc4

I've also had to repair the hole cut in the bonnet and the cutout rear wheel arches that some dill did years ago mybad
'63 Custom Vette DSC00372_zps112fe627
'63 Custom Vette DSC00373_zps18816229
I think I've sorted the wheels out now, not quite the same as the inspiration pic but close enough...
'63 Custom Vette DSC00380_zps76d6dee7
The rears are custom wides that I made myself.
More to come soon....ish.
Cheers TJ

Thanks guys,
Allan that's just the fill panels before I carve out the new smaller original sized wheel arches.

My favorite too Fred, the split window is what I like on these

Apparently terrible for rearward visibility but oh so good looking.
The jumper that is, not the window.
Very Happy

NICE!!!   That mate, is gonna look great, top job on the custom touches so far too. I have the same kit, built the same as yours years ago, only i flared the rear guards with a hot spoon, Rolling Eyes, so i know where you coming from. a little knowledge back then WAS dangerous.

What chassis do you plan on using? always thought the AMT 63 Corvette body was pretty good but the chassis was "rude & crude"

Have heard that with a bit if fiddling about the Revell 67 Corvette chassis will fit.

Blue & white?
Far too subtle.
How about blue & hot pink?

I had a jumper just like that, it was bright orange and Mrs Carps hated it, prolly coz I wore it everywhere.

I wish I knew where it was now.

The car looks nice too.  Very Happy

A small wrap up of this weekends work...
Got the rear wheels arches done including small filler bit of the lower side trim. I cast a copy of the side trim and made the small fillers..
'63 Custom Vette DSC00405_zps2242ab11
Deepened the front fender vents and undercut the front of them..
'63 Custom Vette DSC00403_zps18417378
And opened the door handles up..
