'63 Custom Vette
This one was started a while ago but put aside while I finished the '40 Ford.
It's an old AMT Vette that I built (read: stuffed up) many years ago. And you know me, I'm a restorer so this one's been stripped and on the road now to "Custom Town".
This is the inspiration...
This is what I started with....
This where it's heading...
So far I've made a custom grille, shaved the front indicators and made custom tail lights and exhaust tips...
I've also had to repair the hole cut in the bonnet and the cutout rear wheel arches that some dill did years ago
I think I've sorted the wheels out now, not quite the same as the inspiration pic but close enough...
The rears are custom wides that I made myself.
More to come soon....ish.
Cheers TJ

Thanks guys, allan wrote:Cool custom vette in the making, not a 100% on the rear skirts.
Allan that's just the fill panels before I carve out the new smaller original sized wheel arches.
My favorite too Fred, the split window is what I like on these

Re: '63 Custom Vette
Apparently terrible for rearward visibility but oh so good looking.
The jumper that is, not the window.

Re: '63 Custom Vette
NICE!!! That mate, is gonna look great, top job on the custom touches so far too. I have the same kit, built the same as yours years ago, only i flared the rear guards with a hot spoon, , so i know where you coming from. a little knowledge back then WAS dangerous.

Re: '63 Custom Vette
What chassis do you plan on using? always thought the AMT 63 Corvette body was pretty good but the chassis was "rude & crude"
Have heard that with a bit if fiddling about the Revell 67 Corvette chassis will fit.

Thanks kevjoh, yes the AMT 63 chassis is sh#t and I haven't really gone too far with it, thanks for the hint on the 67 chassis. I might see if I can find one on eBay or.... somewhere, anyone got one??

Re: '63 Custom Vette
Blue & white?
Far too subtle.
How about blue & hot pink?

Re: '63 Custom Vette
I had a jumper just like that, it was bright orange and Mrs Carps hated it, prolly coz I wore it everywhere.
I wish I knew where it was now.
The car looks nice too.

Re: '63 Custom Vette
A small wrap up of this weekends work...
Got the rear wheels arches done including small filler bit of the lower side trim. I cast a copy of the side trim and made the small fillers..
Deepened the front fender vents and undercut the front of them..
And opened the door handles up..
Getting there.........

Good job on the little details.
I'd never have thought of doing that to the door handles. Must have a go...
