I just got inspired to try to do some Lowrider style lace paint work, took some photo's of the process, didn't come out to bad.

First up, paint body base colour, I chose silver. i'm using all automotive paint on this, the silver is base coat.

The next step is to mask out where I want the silver to stay and the rest of the colours to go.

Then the I place the lace over the panels I want the lace pattern to go, I just chose the boot, roof and bonnet. mask out the other parts you don't want any spray to go. Tape the lace don't on the enges to hold it in place, you don't want it to lift up when the air from you airbrush or gun goes across it.

Nextup the background colour for the the lace panels, this is usually the darker colour, I chose House of Colour Molly orange base coat. Spray it straight onto the lace areas, not to heavy, hold away a bit more than usual and not at an angle as it don't work aswell,

With lace removed after I sprayed the orange.

Next up I sprayed the black outline fade, this is also usually a darker colour, i.e blue works well with a purple outline fade.

Then I brake out the Kandy's, I use mainly House of Kolor stuff or Color Horizons. This stuff is designed to go into a Intercoat clear, but it can be put into pretty much any clear.

I'm doing a fade from a red to a yellow, darkest at the bottom of the car, with fades always start with the lightest colour first, this it Pagan gold Kandy, and I lay it over the whole car.

Next is the mid colour in the fade, this will be an Orange, so i'm using the Tangerine Kandy, also only want the fade on the sides of the car, so I avoid the roof, it best to just spray along the bottom edge and work up the car, just do light coats to build up to the intensity of the fade your after and let the colour fade naturaly, just hold the gun or airbrush back a bit further to get a smoother fade.

Last in the fade is my darkest colour, I used Kandy Apple Red Kandy. Again I just sprayed the very bottom edge as I just wanted the bottom to fade out dark.

Then unmask the silver to see how she looks.

Once the body is clear coated these colours should really pop, hope you all have a go at this technique it's pretty fun. next I just need to learn how to pin stripe really small  Rolling Eyes
