Toorak Tractor
Background story on this one is that is was mummy's school run (Xavier College) and shopping (Glenferry Road) car which occasionally was used on longer treks (going to the Chalet for the snow or the weekender down the Peninsula (bay views and beach box obviously darling).
Basically it was a Hootchie Gucci Fiorucci Blazer.
When mumsy upgraded to a new Cayenne it got passed on to number one son who has never cleaned it and has put big tyres and CAT stickers on it because he thinks that makes it a "real" off roader. The tyres are clean because its still never been further off road than up the nature strip and into a tree (driving drunk back from the Portsea Pub - it's OK, Daddy knows people who made it go away). This same "off road" excursion is the reason for the primered front wing. He got it fixed and primered but not painted because he thinks that looks tough. He straightened and welded the broken bull bar himself and is ever so proud of having done it. Despite the fact it looks crap.

You've nailed the "Toorak Tractor" brigade down to a 'T'. It's a winner in my book - well done!

Re: Toorak Tractor
Thanks all.
Class warfare? I thought this was a classless society?
Living in Mount Martha 7 days a week I have issues with the weekenders who flock down the Peninsula on Fridays and proceed to swan around clogging the roads all weekend with their 4 wheel drives and pinching all the parks outside the chip shop.
I know some of the roads are bad but they're not that bad and they are actually still sealed South of Frankston.
Also issues in general with urban fourbys that never see dirt.
I could go on but this is probably not the place for it...

Hey Zenrat I'm in Mornington and we have the same issues with Toorak Tractors. They're only used for shopping trips here - what a waste of fuel and metal!

Re: Toorak Tractor
Tezza - for a bit of comic relief on a weekend park out the back of the newsagent and walk down to mainstreet and stand and watch the small ladies trying to park huge 4WDs.*
* I originally typed $WDs which is somehow appropriate for Cayennes, Tuaregs, Hummers and Lexus's.
Carps - please enlighten me. What is the correct plural of Lexus?

Re: Toorak Tractor
Hey zen, don't know about the chip shop but the missus and I have taken the drive from Frankston to the bakery in Mt.Marthaand sampled some of their delights!
You're right about the tourists though, especially during summer! Errrr, or am I considered a tourist if I come from Frankston?????

Re: Toorak Tractor
AFAIAC the Peninsula starts at Franger so you're safe
Which bakery? The Sheep Station? Good pies and fruit flans there.
The butcher at the beach shops is also pretty good. Mrs z went to school with his sister.
Five Star Pizza & Kebab is the jewel in the crown though. I thoroughly recomend the kebab pizza.

Mate I have to park between those big buggers behind the newsagency. Gotta be careful too - I can't afford to scratch any of them but I'll bet if they scratched my car they'd piss off without leaving a note.
Only a guess but isn't "Toyotas" the plural of Lexus?

Re: Toorak Tractor
2 weeks ago we parked behind Safeway and without a prompt from me Mrs z pointed at a blinged up H2 Hummer (big wheels, thin tyres, chrome running lights, huge chrome $ on the grille) and said "what a w**ker".
Sometimes i'm so proud of her...
Isn't the plural of Toyota "market dominance"?

Same problem on the other side of the bay.
What gets me is that all those status-slaves could buy a REALLY GOOD CAR for the cost of those clumsy truck-wannabes. Guess they just get sucked in by advertising or what their mates have, and don't consider what they really need.
BTW, many farmers don't have 4WDs.

We go to The Mt.Martha Bakehouse on Lochiel Avenue at times, if it's not crowded! Also get to the Mt.Martha Beachside coffee shop on The Esplanade for brunch some Sundays.

Re: Toorak Tractor
I live in an outer suburb of Adelaide and also think that these so-called toorak trctor mob should get a decent car even though as an outer suburbianite I own & drive on long weekends and yearly major holiday drive a 4wd (Nissan Patrol) that was given to me as a prize.
All this hoohar of 4wd's can go over the top but it is needed sometimes.
Great build of a Toorak Tractor anyway well presented.
