pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
heres a newbie to my bench, another 67 chevelle and yes its black.
im gunna try my hand at airbrushing some sort of mural type artyfarty stuff on it ( wish me luck, il need it lol ) and will be fitting that topfueller engine in there too.
i did some body work to it today, cleaned and filed. the base coat was put on it too so i can sand it back and start painting.
im liking these resin parts too, very easy to work with( so far )
dont mind the bonnet, i have more then enouth paint to touch it up once i cut the guts out of it.
thanks for looking

Re: pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
well attempt #1, not so good
ive been trying and trying to get some fine detail work with this airbrush and its drivin me up the wall. IT AINT HAPPENING lol
i did however get a lot of practice in with the flames and tommorow il sand it ALL back and start again.
as you can see, the more paint i put on, the worse it got. hell, i even hit the skulls with the permenant marker but it looks crap.
OOOOHWELLLLL :study:

Re: pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
Doesn't look that bad to me.
Might look better with a shiney clear coat.
On the other hand when I stuff up a paint job, I usually strip it off and start from scratch, rather than just sand it back. Got a lot of bodies waiting their turn in the strip tank.

Re: pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
attempt # 2
not being game enougth to strip it, i spent a good hour and a half sanding it back for another coat of base. ( il try stripping parts first lol ) still needs a bit of work but heres where im at.
soo what do you guys think??? please be honest.
once some clear goes on it will be alot darker...

Re: pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
I reckon it looks OK and will look better with a coat of clear.
I'm thinking maybe the templates you're using for the flames could be a little smaller so you get better scale. Have you seen Mike Lavelle's video on how he does 'real fire'?
If not, lemme know and I'll send you a copy (just remember I'm notoriously slow doing stuff like that).

Re: pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
Looking great! I'd clear this one and call it done, Then make the flames smaller on the next one you do! and the more you do the better you will get! You will need to do a tutorial on this. Now you know you ain't keeping this to youself!!!

Hey Todd, Looks heaps better than your 1st attempt. imagine your 3rd, I think it looks great, well done. Cheers
Re: pro street 67 chevelle... NOW ON THE SHELF!!!
tj you're doing well mate. Airbrushing doesn't come easy - it takes lots of practice and from what I see you're doing just fine. You may find this link to "Brian's Model Cars" website helpful. He has lots of tutorials on model car painting and detailing. http://www.briansmodelcars.com/tutorials/index

Flames
I reckon they look great as is. I especially like the black base with blue (ish) flames. Very different to the usual red and yellow. I would never have thought of this colour scheme but I'll certainly keep it mind for a future project.

That looks wicked with the clear on TJ. I think you might start a new trend with that one - real smoke!

That's quite a unique 'haze' finish you've created tj, and all done by experimenting. I'd say you've got a winner coming up.

"Shakers" look good anyway - this is looking like "Model of the Month" material to me.
