'35 Ford Empty '35 Ford

Post by Bryce Wed 04 Nov 2009, 12:14 pm

I reckon they are one of the best looking early Fords around and as far as I know no plastic kit exists.

Looking at Carps' picnic shot of a '34 & '35 Ford side-by-side got me thinking about a conversion.

I never realised it, but it looks like a '35 Ford is just a '36 body with a '34 grill - is that correct? If so, has anyone done a resin conversion for any of the existing '36 Ford kits?

Can't understand why it hasn't been done before... '35 Ford Icon_question

The 35 grill is a bit different at the bottom, the 33 and 34 come down the sides then turn into a point whereas the 35 comes straight down and doesn't turn in, not sure about the body but you may be right. Not long ago found out the difference between a 33 and 34 was just the 34 is thicker than the 33, have to look close to pick it. HTH

u find 36 body closer to the 35 body,33's and 34's are almost the same.I have been looking for any 35 models but have not found any only seen diecast ones.even when people build 35 hot rods they put 36 front ends on them.

34 & 35 are completely different Bryce.
The 35 & 36 are very similar in the main body area but both share absolutely nothing in common with the 33/34 Model 40 cars
There was a range of 35 Ford Sedan Deliveries a few years ago in 1/25th scale

You can see how different the grille is here

I could bore you with the differences between the 35 & the 36 but the main ones are the grille, the hood sides/top, the peak in the to of the fenders on the 36 compared top the rounded tops of the 35's, and then there is 18 rivets in the LH chassis rail compared to 22 on the 36, paint 12 microns thick on a 35............ etc etc etc - and all will be checked against ref material if you get it judged!
