Norm Beechey's HK Monaro GTS
Ok here's one for the Holden boys. It's the HK Monaro GTS that was driven by Norm Beechey in the 1969 ATCC. It's the lesser known of the two Monaro's he drove, the Shell yellow HT GTS of '70-'71 gets all of the glory.
It's made from the TPB resin kit with Cavalier bumpers and dash, Detail Master belt hardware, brake ducts made from a Coke can, wheels and tyres from the spares box, exhaust from an old Nascar kit and the decals came from many different sources. I drilled out the moulded in headlights and replaced them with lenses from the spares box. It's painted with Tamiya light blue spray
Inside has been flocked and I've added some gauges, Model Car Garage window cranks and an extinguisher.
I made this one about this time last year.

Re: Norm Beechey's HK Monaro GTS
Absolutely awesome. I'd say that's the best scale Monaro I've ever seen. Stunningly clean work inside and out - you have some serious skills. Welcome aboard - I think you may well raise the bar here.

There are a few of us that saw all the great cars racing , a GREAT job well done with both cars from a period when cars were beasts and real men drove them.

Well said Yelgem and yes I'm one who witnessed that great era of Aussie motorsport. Shawn your fantastic models are bringing back wonderful memories - thanks for recording the cars and past history of the ATCC and showing them to us.

Thanks guy's, you all have raised the bar for me since I discoverd this site a little while ago so I'm happy to return the favour.
Competition level? Not me ChevyFan. My dodgy little camera hides many rough edges.

Yes where do we find these "dodgy" camera's.
Your builds are fantastic, nice to see some old Aussie racers.

Fantastic job and yes, I too rmember when that version of the car was racing. But surely that can't be so as I'm not anywhere near as old as Tezza.
