Channelled 32 #3 – “Dream Deuce”
I’ve been waiting on some bits and pieces and they arrived today, so I have a new long term project, but don’t expect any updates too soon.
Here’s the pile of bits…
That is going to turn into some kind of cross between this:
…and this:
Wish me luck!

Re: Channelled 32 #3 – “Dream Deuce”
Time for an update on my other winter scratch building project...I kind of lost my hot rod mojo lately after playing around with the modern stuff, but seem to be finding it again now.
I have been setting up the chassis this week. It’s been Z’d at the back and runs a ’37 truck axle and transverse leaf spring. Up front the chassis has been pie cut close to the body so the rails could be lifted up for front axle clearance. The axle came from the ’29 Ford pick up kit and the brakes are resin items. Engine is the Pontiac mill from the AMT ’36 Ford kit.
Have also made up a bit of a roll pan on the back by chopping the bottom off an AMT deuce body and grafting onto the bottom. I reckon this looks much better than stock.

Bryce is there any way you can continue the body lines down in the the roll pan. It just sort of stops, and doesn't finish the profile.
I like the concept though very trad.

Re: Channelled 32 #3 – “Dream Deuce”
A bleed sweep is when you pie cut the rails and pinch em up a bit, Have you seen mad fabricators society? they do it alot on there they main;y focus on 50s traditional hot rods where i get all my inspiratrion from

So called because it's the signature of US buildert Bob Bleed.
In deference to John's comment re the rolled pan, a car with such a deep channel would likely not have featured such a modification back in the day although there are exceptions.
No matter which way you finish it, I'm sure it'll be a typical Bryce masterpiece and since there's no rules to buildin hot rods, it'll be perfect.

Re: Channelled 32 #3 – “Dream Deuce”
Thanks for the nice words guys. I don't really care what it's called or why, I just did it because it looks cool.
I've been making some progress this week. Got my chassis all sorted with split ’37 Ford pick up bones front and rear.
Also found some seats that are shallow enough to fit – think they are from an old Revell VW beetle kit based on the colour of the plastic!
Also been scratching up some front shocks using plastic stock (rears will be lever action) and made some over-the-frame headers using a couple of stock mufflers from the AMT ’29 Woody/RPU kit:
Here it is all in situ - the vision is starting to come together now!
On a side note, does anybody here know anything about magnetos? Specifically, if you were running a magneto, could/would/should you also run a generator or is this completely obsolete?

Re: Channelled 32 #3 – “Dream Deuce”
Hey Bryce. I seem to recall magnetos and generators way before alternators. I'd guess it's your choice. Great planning you've done there,Bud. Chassis is great, stance,in my eyes,is perfect. It's gonna be an eye popper for certain. Best to you,Bill
