Kenworth 1/16th W model custom build
Thought I would share a build that I am doing for a friend, here is the inspiration for it
and here is what I have done so far, 1st was to chop the bonnet down by 11mm, and realign
Then cut the sleeper down to 36inch from the box version which is almost double
This is how it looks as a mock up
Next was the cutting up of the battery boxes
and it looks close to what the pic is, except the paint of course
Still along way to go, and with a heap of scratch built parts to make, almost 200 in fact so will
do updates as I do them
Cheers
Tony

"Wow whatabuilt" is an old expression for a well built woman, but I think it applies equally to this truck if it's going to look like that pic. Keep those progress pics coming.

Re: Kenworth 1/16th W model custom build
Thanks for the comments guys,
I have done a little to it over the last week, started scratchbuilding the frame, and finished the bonnet, all it needs is a coat of FFP, and it is ready to cast, the FFP creates a nice flat shiney surface so it comes out of the mould better
I decided to scratch the frame because of a couple of reasons, first I would have had to remove all the detail, cause the truck don't have any, and second because I could add a bit more strength to it
and most of the frame is covered by louvres,
here is a pic of the frame rear
I used 15.9 mm I beam to make the frame, just shave one side to give me a C channel
and the stand kit rear end and front end
and here is a pick of the bonnet, here is is sprayed Black and has been blocked back
Still much work to do, but there is always tomorrow.....

Re: Kenworth 1/16th W model custom build

I was going to use the 1/16th kit, but decided that it would be easier to scratch most of it due to the fact that most of the
kit parts would need modifying in some way or another, and , it is always good practise too, which I will need for my next big project
will be doing an update Sunday night
Thanks for the interest

Re: Kenworth 1/16th W model custom build
Thanks for all the comments, it has been a while since I have updated this, so here is what I have done since my last post
I have completed a few items, but the most difficult was the rear sleeper panel, which I had 6 goes at, I finally got jack of it and had a photo etch template made and used it to press a panel out, which I then took a mould from and cast a panel, here is what I was going for
here is what I used
and the result
I invested a lot in some photo etch parts, as I think they really make it more scale like, here are some of them
some more parts, these where scratch built, console, flap mounts, flaps apart from the turn table plate
Front grill was modified to suit the new etch grill, and will have 9 up rights fitted, I will then have it chrome plated
Next on the list is the louvred deck plate, this should be fun
I have a few more parts that are close to completion, and will post them as they are finished
Thanks for looking

Jeez you're a sucker for punishment.
This is going to look great when it's done.
