The Understater – ’36 Ford Taildragger
This is the old AMT kit – chopped, dropped, nosed, decked and shaved. I wanted to do a really subtle custom. Something that you need to look at twice to be sure it is modified.
The engine is the kit flattie dressed up with some speed parts from my spares box. The bumpers are ’40 Ford and wheels are Caddy Sombreros (thanks Paul). The rest pretty much came out of the box.
Gotta admit I really enjoyed building this kit. It’s got the usual AMT fit issues, but nothing insurmountable. It’s also pretty simple, but I kinda like that in a custom these days. I will definitely do another one of these as a stock roof height hot rod at some point in the future.

That looks pretty good Bryce. Gives me a bit of an idea on what to do with the same that I received at Tumut NNL as an encouragement award for my T Roadster , except I'll go with the Droptop version in Mint Green

Re: The Understater – ’36 Ford Taildragger
I wasn't real keen on the bumpers at first. But seeing it finished is a different story.
Well done Bryce, great shine and detail. Two thumbs!

Awesome model, Bryce! You've really nailed it, I thought sombrero's only looked good on 40's and 50's cars, but I've changed my opinion now!

Awesome work. Where did you get the white walls? I have a 49 ford project that needs them badly. Nice work, looking good my friend.

Thanks for all the nice words guys!
These ones came from the latest release of the Revell '50 Ford F1 truck. But I quite often make my own using an airbrush, Tamiya flat white acrylic paint and a circle template. I can prepare a 'how to' if you want some more info - let me know.
