Re: BUD Nastruck
I just took this out of the spray booth and i am pleased with the result. The 2K just loves the warm weather we have here at present. I wish i had of gotten this finish on the whole body.
Started on the engine now, not much to see at present. I have drilled out for the plumbing and have been toying with the idea of having the airfilter being removable. You cannot see the shine on the airfilter in this shot but it is very shiny, i just hope the Alclad chrome works over a clear and not solid black....

Nice job Shayne.
With the Fish Eyes you said to use clear from the bottle. Is this before it is mixed? Does it still dry?
I tried this trick the other day, but I used my remaining clear that I had mixed, but as soon as I put a drop on it crazed my basecoat in the 'eye'.

Re: BUD Nastruck
Slow going here. The body now just needs to be masked off so i can spray the spolier black.
And started working on the dash. I have added tha ccess panel for the gauges and added clips.

Re: BUD Nastruck
Nice. Is the body finished and polished, or is that later, apart from decals, do you clear over decals?

Re: BUD Nastruck
I am thinking of calling the body finished. I painted the rear spolier this afternoon and all looks good. I will decal this and then wax over the decals to give them a slight shine.

Re: BUD Nastruck
Chris the gauge decals are from a Slixx sheet, you can get "Goodies Sheets" from www.mikesdecals.com he has sheets for various years featuring grills, gauges etc. The 2009 sheet has the new look gauge faces which are now lite up permanently so they look bright.

Re: BUD Nastruck
Decals are now on, i have had the issue of some silvering which was quite annoying but not much i could do. The lights are from a Slixx sheet and the rest are all from the Race Scale sheet. They went on without any issues and for old decals they were fine. I will now clean up the body and then look at a coat of wax.

Re: BUD Nastruck
Thanks guys. Kane i have cleared over the decals in the past, i like that they are then protected and if being handled i know everything is safe. In this case i will just wax the body to give the decals a slight shine to look like vinyl cut as they are and to just polish up the body again. I use Maguiars as i find it does not harm the decals but always best to test first.
Re: BUD Nastruck
Looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh.
IRL I guess that the vinyl stickers would have a different texture to the paint. Be very fiddley to replicate that in scale though.
Good job.

Re: BUD Nastruck
I had a few extra days off after Easter so i managed to get back into this one. Started wiring the engine and details on the seat etc. Just a small start so i hope to have more done in the next week or so.
Re: BUD Nastruck
Nice start on the detailing, going to be a neat project when finished.

Re: BUD Nastruck
Seeing it has almost been 12 months since any work was done on this one so i have pulled it out again.
Just started on the motor for now with some wiring, i shall paint the fittings then get the braided hoses in place.
