El Camino
Here's something I've been tinkering with for a while, not much done so far. I'm trying things I've never done before with this one.
I believe this is the kit that it started out as, it was given to me fully assembled by one of my brother's when I must've been about 13 -14 maybe. The wheels can't be found anywhere and may still be at my mum's house (have to have a look next time I'm there). So it'll sit a LOT lower.
The paint work still needs some tinkering with to make it look better. Still no clear on it yet.
New window in place. First time trying to make one. It needs to be cleaned still, but looks a lot better in person than the pic. It is just an overhead projector sheet cut to basic shape and size.
This is why I needed/wanted to make another window. You can get a basic idea of how many colours this thing has been since the first time I disassembled it. It was originally yellow, but didn't have any of the decals that I remember.
I have also mini-tubbed the tray so that the car can sit nice and low, as the original wheel arches didn't allow for much lowering without putting on pizza cutters on the rear. Can't see it in any of the pics so far (must get a few more) but I've used and old film canister cut down to shape to make the new wheel arches.
Next new thing for me to try out, is a new chassis for this thing. The original one isn't allowing me to have this thing sit where I want it to, so out with the old one and try to build a new one. The pics I've seen of others building them make it look easy. I'm onto the third attempt soon as the first couple haven't been working for me. Looks can be deceiving obviously, but you live and learn. Hopefully I can get something sorted soon.
Cheers for looking.

Re: El Camino
I hope you can start on it again soon too, because this will be an exciting build to watch. There are so many possibilities with these 'monster' trucks.

Re: El Camino
Looks like a big project. I have the chassis from the '66 El Camino which I'm not going to use. You're welcome to it if you want it.

Re: El Camino
Hey Boothy,
Out of the '66 kit, I'm using the body & interior parts. Maybe the engine but I want something bigger. I won't be using any of the undercarrige including the wheels. But this is chevyfan's thread so he's got first dibbs on the chassis.

Re: El Camino
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Clutch: what do the wheels and chassis look like from the 66? I'm still looking at options for this thing.
