Ayyyyy!!! Settle down!!! So Shawn, are you interested in molding a few of these kits? I'd be keen to get one, drop it down with some nice wheels and put the Clevo out of the Revell Boss 302 mustang in it.

You've definitiely missed your calling Shawn , you should be doing this full time (if you can handle the frustration of course) .

Ha! I'm like a dog with a bone. I never give up, sometimes I put things on permanent hold (don't we all) but I never give up.
Hi all. Only 2 days left then I'm back to work so I've been going flatout getting more and more done. This week I finished the seats.
Starting with the rear bench. This is the base on which the rest of the layers will be added.
These are the rest of the pieces that make up the shape of the seat. Starting with the basic evergreen sections then sanding them to shape.
The centre insert sections will be made and cast separately so as to make it easier to have different styles of upholstery for different makes and models of Falcons.
I added side supports from an interior tub from the spares box and blended them in with some putty. I glued some wire on it for the piping.
The finished item after a light spray with primer.
Now on to the front seats. For the back rest I started with two parts of the thickest evergreen sheet with a thin section sandwiched inbetween them.
Sanded it to shape and glued a strip around the outside then sanded that to shape too.
For the seat I did the same with the thick evergreen sheet as I did for the back rest and made a smaller section for the base and glued that on.
I bogged the smaller base section and sanded it to a wedge.
Added the side supports to the top of the seat base.
You can see how much of a wedge shape it is.
I glued the base and the back rest together and made the side supports from putty. The wire makes another re-appearance for the piping on the front seat.
Here are two different types of inserts. The S-Pack inserts are on the left and the GL on the right.
To make the distinctive (and rock hard) Falcon headrests I lightly tacked two pieces of evergreen together and sanded them to shape then I cut the centre out of them. After I did that, I separated them and added a very thin section of evergreen that was slightly smaller than the other parts and glued them together.
I cast the front seats and the head rests, shot some primer on them and got the old Derwent colour pencils out to put some S-Pack stripes on one of them to help me visualise the final product.
And finally.. the interior so far.
I'm really pleased with the interior so far and the dash isn't that far from being finished. I was going to give you a sneek peak of it put I figured that I would keep you hanging.
That's all for today. Thanks for looking and for your kind comments.
CheersSS

Shawn , please , no more in a single update , my head is swimming with the detail you've just created from scratch as it is without seeing the dash

That is LEGEN-wait for it-DARY!!!
The detail you put into this, would put Revell, Monogram and all those companies out of business. Outstanding work shawn.

Re: XE Falcon S-Pack ** so anyway 8 years later- **
Gee whizz!!!! Shawn, those front seats are unbelievable. Having been a passenger in a few XDs and XEs as a pup I can say those seats are spot on!!! The headrests even look like they would feel the same as the real ones. Any plans on doing the Fairmont "push in" style headrest inserts? -They used to be fun when you were sitting in the back and "punch" them out, into the dash! lol

Yeah I bet that was fun for everyone, except maybe the person driving at the time.
I don't know about what different versions or what different parts that I will make just yet. If I decide to sell a few copies I might consider making lots of different doorcards, headrests and seat inserts so the purchaser can chose.

Oh, hell no, you never did it while driving, that's just downright dangerous (as Mum or Dad would kick your ass if they caught you!!)

Re: XE Falcon S-Pack ** so anyway 8 years later- **
Hi all. I've spent the last week and a bit working on the dash only to decide that I didn't like the look of it so I am going to treat it as a prototype and do it properly this time around so no pics of that untill I am 100% happy with it. I have also been working on the 2 centre consoles that I need to do. Here is the first.
You should know the drill by now- start off with shapes and layers of evergreen and add detail from there.
I cut the storage areas out and put some thin evergreen on the bottom of those areas. I also cut out a ciggy pack slot, drilled an area for the ciggy lighter and made a lighter out of .75mm evergreen rod that was pressed against a lightly heated knife blade. I also made a (NON WORKING ) ashtray and a cassette tape (kids, ask your parents) holder.
I carved out some coin holders, added a rear ashtray and a divider for the front storage space and a slot for the T-Bar handle.
I found a T-Bar in the spares box and mounted it on a pin.
Primered and ready to go.
I am well advanced with the second console so that shouldn't be too far off, it's less complex than this one so it will come together soon.
CheersSS

You've put more thought and work into this than the original designers ever did. Excellent work Shawn.
