Volksrod
Thought I would start on something else while I was stuck on my 2 '32 fords.
Comes from an old 1982 Revell Cabriolet kit, got it off ebay with the body already painted...nothing some brake fluid couldn't take care of. Windscreen was broken, wasn't too worried about that though.
It will be low, not sure whether to go with a speedster or chopped version, seats out of the Dan Fink '32, GM Corvair motor with either the turbo, a larger turbo or just a couple of webbers.
Haven't started chopping the rear guards off yet and colour I'm not sure yet.
Anyway here's the first few photos...

Oh yea ... I love the beetle and they lend them self to customising beautifully. Cant wait to see where ya go with this.

Good project you've taken on. I love VW rods - I reckon the shape and look you've worked out here is great. Here's some inspiration for you:

Re: Volksrod with turbo corvair motor
That's a mean lookin pic with the arse hanging out like that!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with your Volksrod. I wonder what it would look like with a 2mm body chop and cut it in half from front to back and add a few mm widening it? Fat 'n Flat!

Don't think I've ever seen a Hiace look so good next to it either.

Re: Volksrod with turbo corvair motor
This is all looking promising.
I've got a bug body that i've chopped but which i've got stalled on due to my dislike of sanding & filling. However, Chrome cop, your pic has given me an idea to reduce the amount needed...

Re: Volksrod with turbo corvair motor
Got some spare time so a little bit of progress....
Windscreen chopped, roof chopped and smoothed, engine mocked up, body shortened 4mm, front sectioned 4mm (rear still has to be done). That's about it so far....and alot of filling and sanding!
Thinking of taking more out of the roof though.
Before....

Re: Volksrod with turbo corvair motor
OK...I am getting more excited about this build. There is a VW running here with canted dual quad headlamps faired into the front mudguards and all sorts of other 50s custom tricks...a whole new dimension of VW mods....
