Mad Max II Interceptor
this is an Aoshima kit of the XB Falcon interceptor from the movie Mad Max !! it looks to be a great kit (curbside) but has a few things that need fixing, a large chunk was missing from the dash wich has now been repaired, the interior door trims have great detail but the car in the movie doesnt have them so they have been left out and repaced with some plasticard that i hope represents the inside of the doors, i have also cut out the front spoiler (nose cone ) to replicate the damage done at the start of the movie. this is where im up to.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
I'm a big fan of the Mad Max movies so this is a real tonic for me. Looks like a good kit and you're taking the time to build it correctly.
I'll be watching this one progressing.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
your dash missing chunk? mine too. also you removed too much of the front, you need to glue the RHS back on. also the bar at the front is gone, so cut that off too. there's a metal bracket that's showing was actually behind the front, which i think is molded on the chassis.
1. the rear parcel shelf it too long front to rear. it needs to be only half that width.
2. omit the blue light from the dash bracket. Max has pulled it off in the movie.
also, let me know if you want a picture of the Falcon door without the inside skin (if you need an accurate inner door).

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
i found this for a replica Road Warrior
here's a complete list of everything that max has in his car (if you're feeling the desire to be that accurate - i never have)

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
One of the 3 Ford's i'd like to own in 1:1 looking forward to seeing this 1 finished. There's 3 versions of this kit, 1 with MM1 interior, 1 with MM2 interior & 1 with white metal blower/bug catcher & the dog (interior unknown), i've got the 1st 2 the last one is rare. Also got the resin coversion set to convert the car back to full MM1 configuration, only problem is it came with the rear seat bum (can i say that word here?) section & no upper part of the rear seat & you have to make the rear window out of clear sheet plastic. I'll get round to completeing them one day.
Also got Mad Max in 1/24/5 scale
He should be arriving any day now from the U.S. It comes with a spare head so you can remove the gun & do the Goose.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
Very Nice so far,I built one of these and that too had a dash chunk missing!!! There was actually 6 variations of this kit in total, with different box art and white metal parts inside. Be watching this build closely.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
It was probably lost. Other things are different from how it appeared in the movie too - the blue light is back. The exterior was all shiny and the front spoiler was more or less back to it's MM1 form. None the less, this is the real movie car. It's my photo.checkmate wrote:What happened to the pic of his Mrs and kid???????otherunicorn wrote:Real car's interior, post "restoration".

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
nice photo, thanks for posting it. there was a fan or two who offered to restore the mad max car back to it's movie correct glory, but he turned them down.
Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
Unfortunately when the real car was "restored" under the ownership of Bob Fursenko it was painted incorrectly, interior was wrong, front bar was wrong, many many things. Best to use the movie and replica cars built by those two aussie blokes, in Vic I think. There name eludes me at the moment. It's a real nice one to build ain't it?

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
I think the guy who offered to correct the interceptor was they guy who now runs the silverton mad max museum.
i've met Gordon. not a bad bloke (i think he's a doctor). i travelled to Perth to catch up with a friend and stopped in to see him and his interceptor. it was raining, so he didn't want to take it out, but when he started the 427 (? some racing block he got from usa?) shook the entire warehouse!
