have a few things on my plate at the moment but have been doin a little, hope to have some pics soon, was trying to do an acurate replica of the movie car however every time i check a detail i find its in some pics and not in others ! eg the booby trap on the fuel tank appears in two different locations, i have been workin on the interior wich requires a lot of extra goodies that have to be scratch built, progress is slow but there is progress

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
Considering that there were two interceptors used in the making of Mad Max II, I'm not surprised that you find differences!

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
Yeah, you will find differences in reference photos. The easiest way to tell is to use the car with NO windscreen wipers as the reference, this was the "star car" The one WITH wipers was the "camera" car, used for most of the in car filming and had the camera rigs and so forth attached to it-This was the one wrecked at the end of the movie. It was quite a rough car to start with.

You may have your cars mixed. The original was used for the in car shots. The new one was used for the distant/driving shots.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
Not today...Allow me to clarify:
Star car:
Notice No Wipers.
2nd car:
Notice wipers, the dent in the fender(at the end of "Max's" belt) The whole bonnet was semi gloss black and this car retained the front end for nearly all filming, It was less dirty. Also had different tyres on the front if you wanted to be really picky

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
What I understand is that the camera car was the original and is the one that survived. What you are calling the star car was the one that got trashed. It was certainly the non-GT rougher car that was trashed.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
The Genuine GT, from the first movie, was the one that survived, correct. This is the one in the top picture, which had the wipers removed, and the drivers door mirror retained. This was used for all close ups.
The "camera" car, with wipers on, and door mirror removed was the car that was rolled. (this stunt, the Lord Humungus stunt and the tanker roll over were done when filming was nearly complete.) they used this car for the driving stuff.

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
It would appear our difference of opinion is about the definition of "camera car"! That was what I was calling the car used for the close-ups.
So essentially, we are in agreement.

Star car - Camera car, Camera car - Star car. You say potato, I say potato
But that was they car we both said was the best for reference wasn't it?

Re: Mad Max II Interceptor
RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The car you use as reference car is the one WITHOUT the wipers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The car WITHOUT the wipers did all the driving and the other one which was technally just a shell made up for the closeups and the rollover , TRUST ME !
