Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
Hi Brendon, the plans all used to be on the Drake web page for each different trailer, but the last time I went on there site it has been changed. If you're after some plans I did save them. the plan you see above is all you get, but its a starting point. I'm also a member on a truck and machinery forum where the members there were very helpful with reference pics.

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
I wouldn't take it personal Brendon at least your not hiding behind multiple usernames like Radish, opps I mean Markdtrap.
Pull your head in Radish/Markdtrap or find another forum, if you dont like it leave, I'll even help you leave if you want.
Graham Green from QLD by chance??

I also have these plans as I was thinking about doing one down the track... I also have a few dozen photos that I have taken of the Army's version of these trailers (exactly the same trailer, just green)

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
Had another crack at this since Drake Trailers have again delayed the release of there kit.
got one of the hard parts done, getting the trailer to open and close and stay parallel. also have made working shockies that should take a bit of weight.

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
Whilst I don't wish to hijack Mutleys thread, he didn't say which Christmas to reserve the space under the tree for, obviously not 2015. I also recall an official Drake flyer stating 'for release in 2015'. If it's anything like other hobbies like H.O. trains, Drake are probably being mucked around by the factories in China or wherever they're being made. Guys have been asking on Drakes FB page for the last year for a date and the reply is usually soon or next Monday or Christmas. Don't get me wrong, when Auslowe were taking expressions of interest or orders or what ever you want to call it,at Wagga 2014, myself and at least 3 other guys I know said we'd take 1 or more each and still want to. If Drake had a date, they'd let us know so everyone can have their pennies saved and the wifes okey dokey to rack it up on the plastic. They'll want as many out the door asap to offset their investment. Plastic is a whole new field for them, lots of modellers have diecast stuff but not the same numbers of collectors build kits. As keen as everyone is for this release, I think the scale stuff is a sideline to the 1:1 stuff not the other way around so it'll happen when it happens. I'll happily eat my words if it turns up in the near futrure but the space I had reserved under my Christmas tree stayed empty last year. I stand by my earlier comment.

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
Hi Dave, sorry to see that your post has been somewhat "Hijacked" with all the gripping about the Dake trailer kit.Â
Keep up the great work, it's looking great, at least when it's finished you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you constructedÂ
and built it yourself, much better than pulling some already designed plastic pieces out of a box and simply gluing them together. Â Â
For those that want to bitch and moan about the upcoming release of the Drake trailer then start another post and doÂ
it there and leave this post for what it's meant to be.

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
First:- thanks for the comments.
Second:- HYJACK away, I'm guilty of it myself on the odd occasion, so rip in boys, don't let Uncle Kev scare you off, old bastards found his big wooden spoon I think.
Third:- back to the build. mucked around with the rear slider a bit.
made the second axle row with working shockies so that the others float to suit the surface.
Fourth:- Drakes prototype model has been ready for 3 or 4 months now that I know of, there was about 3 release dates last year, but nothing.
spoke to this Bruce bloke who runs the collectable side of things, at a die cast convention in Penrith last year and he told me they hope to be ready for xmas.
heard, read on another forum that the delay is there wanting to release truck and trailer together, so thats why we hav'nt seen the trailer yet, and Christ knows when that will be.
need a lie down now.

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
Saw this in the flesh this weekend and it looks terrific. Hoped to get it out the the door whilst Mutley indulged in a gourmet breakfast but wasn't fast enough. Great work Also liked the 'pussy' bonnet and the aerodyne cab.

Re: drake 4x8 swing wing trailer
Second that.
However I am concerned the price of styrene sheet is going to increase given how much Dave is using on this thing.
