1997 F 150 Rescue Response truck
I started this F150 about 6 years ago and got some of it done. It then went back in the box until now. It will be a rescue response truck for the dragstrip at QMHE. I converted the dash to right hand drive and lengthened the chassis 12mm (scale 12"). I also filled in the curved area at the rear of the cab so that frame continues down from the rear window. I also have a 1997 F150 long bed for comparison. I haven't decided on the rear tray 100% as of yet but have a few ideas in my head.
I was given the Lindberg kit which was partily painted and put together resulting in the rear springs/diff were broken. I used strip brass to remake sections of the spring and alloy tubing to make the axle tubes.

Re: 1997 F 150 Rescue Response truck
I am missing an exterior mirror from this kit. If anyone has one that I could get off them would be great.
Mirrors from this Revell kit would also do. I don't want to part this kit out as I have plans for it.

Re: 1997 F 150 Rescue Response truck
Heres where I am at now. Chassis done and painted. A little more to do on the interior. Cab is primered and I got a coat of white on yesterday but got a fingerprint on the roof. Need to sand it out and paint again. Luckily it was only a light first coat, shouldn't take much to sand it out.
I made the exhaust tailpipe from aluminium tubing. I tried for nearly 4 hours trying to hinge the bonnet, it kept fouling and not opening properly so I said %^&&% it, and glued it shut. I figured its for a club display and its only a fuel injected V8, nothing fancy to look at. The main focus of this build is the conversion from a short wheel base F150 to a extended chassis, right hand drive response truck.

Sanded the fingerprint out of the roof and got it painted today. Now to let it dry for a couple of days and then mask off for the red sections.

Taking shape nicely. I was about to say what about that mark on the door ...then I realised it was a mark on my monitor
Re: 1997 F 150 Rescue Response truck
Yea, while waiting between coats of white I have managed to get some work done on the Cobra. Still planning a tray/rear module for this truck. Need to get the cab on the chassis to get some measurements. The Cobra shouldn't take long to do now that the body is painted. Not today though, off to work now.

Re: 1997 F 150 Rescue Response truck
Heres where I am at with this one. Cab/chassis done! All I need are some decals and lettering. While at work tomorrow I will have a look at how aerials are fixed to the light bars, its great when you can just go out and have a look at the office. I spent a bit of time with the light bar. It came from a Revell snap tite police car. I managed with alot of grinding to mount 4 LED's inside, wire it and have them flashing.
As far as the Lindberg kit goes.....SHIT. Some parts just didn't fit, had to grind the front edge of the dash away to get it to fit properly against the front window. Front window had to be ground away to get it to fit in the body opening, nearly took too much off and left a gap. Hasn't turned out too bad though all the same. I am quite happy with it so far. Rear tray is next, I have plans in my head and some sheet styrene on its way. Does anyone know where I can get some scale diamond plate styrene???
Anyhow heres some pictures.

Re: 1997 F 150 Rescue Response truck
Got it registered, proper Qld number plate straight from one of the trucks at work.
Have started on the rear tray. Have gone along the lines of our rural trucks combined with a mine vehicle style tool box. After the dragway dio I have other plans for this vehicle so I wanted the tray to be dual function. The box will house the battery box for the lights. I plan on making a form of module to mount the extinguishers on that will locate on the tread plate area. When not in use it can come off and be used as a normal tray. My main idea for this truck was for it to be a swift water rescue truck, hence the inflatable boat that will be mounted on top on a 4wd boat loader style frame. All still in theory yet. Heres some pics.
The holes in the rear panel are there to mount 2 more leds for rearward facing strobe lights.

Leave the boat on top and name the Dragway "Floodplain Riverside Raceway". After all, we are talking about Sunny Queensland - Gorgeous one day, flooded the next...
