Finally a good review of a Falcon
NRMA's glowing review of the Ecoboost Falcon. good to finally read a positive review for a change from the usual gloom and doom. If i was in the market for a full size sedan, i'd probably get one.
Re: Finally a good review of a Falcon
I get to look over all the new cars at work being a panel beater. There is no way i would ever buy anything built by Ford or Holden. The build quality is shocking to say the least. The fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired.
It is no wonder the import market is so strong and no wonder both Ford and Holden are loosing sales. When you look at some of the cars being made by Kia, and Hyundai i can understand why the sell so well. I my self got out of a Ford Fiarlane and bought a Toyota Aurion. Best thing we ever did, and i have been a Ford man since my first car over 30 years ago.

Re: Finally a good review of a Falcon
We have a ford stationwagon at work for our reps car, he got a whole 3 days before the left hand ball joint came a-drift, 20-000 km the front seat collapsed, cooling problems, chews through tyres, diff problems and now just 12 months old it is on its 8th set of head light globes, being an auto electrical whole sale company, we have thrown every brand and configuration at it, nothing lasts more than 2 months. Over all , i would give the home grown Ford about a 2.5 out of 10. Our managers car is the new Mondeo diesel, out does the local version by a mile in all aspects (hate to admit it though), goes well, and finished off well, no wonder Ford Australia is going down the gurgler, they produce crap, and by the way, i'n not a commodore fan either, our last company car, vz wagon had about 20 grand thrown at it in the final 2 years, just to keep it on the road, sold for 4G, i'm impressed!

Re: Finally a good review of a Falcon
I have always been a Holden man. That has changed now after owning a VZ acclaim. God aweful thing to drive. The motor was brilliant but the the rest of the car was crap. Thats why I drive a Suzuki now. They stopped making real Holdens when they made the commodore. I would also never own a Ford any older than the XB. They just got real ugly after that model.

Re: Finally a good review of a Falcon
You get good and bad with all of them. A Taxi here in town clocked up over 300,000km's on it's Gen3 without ever having been touched and V6's get twice that sometimes.
I've worked on Holdens, Nissans, Toyotas etc and they all have faults. The early Ecotecs leaked from rear mains and sump gaskets, Hiluxs and Landcruisers do clutchs and diffs the list goes on.
Still comes down to person preference and how much you want to spend.
As for Mopar's yeah great do 300C's even have a spare tyre?

They should do, they have enough room in the boot for 3 spare tyres and 4 dead bodies. Plus your holiday luggage while you're at it.checkmate wrote:

Re: Finally a good review of a Falcon
Pretty sure they dont which is a handy thing when your 200km's from anywhere with a flat tyre with the side wall ripped out.

Prejudice Checkmate, prejudice
Besides if you're ripping the sidewalls out of your tyres, maybe you should lay off the gas. Mopars can be very hazardous to tyres if you're not careful

Re: Finally a good review of a Falcon
You shouldn't base your opinion on a Reps car for one (that's one step removed from a Hire car), and it's a station wagon, so it's probably quite old, since they don't make a wagon since BA (and all the taxi owners are crying about loosing it). All our rep cars broke and failed, even the toyota camrys.DeeCee wrote:We have a ford stationwagon at work for our reps car,
