Re: '62 Valiant Coupe
Mate feel free to bore us with more info if you like. This is sensational work considering what you had to begin with. Most unique - thanks for sharing.

Re: '62 Valiant Coupe
Unlike MGYT, it was love at first sight when I saw my first R series Valiant. The deep maroon coloured car belonged to a well to you young bloke about 20 years old and he had added chrome reverse wheels with Pirelli Cinturato radials (new and exotic at the time) and I figure it had extractors and a tuned exhaust system, maybe other engine mod's too, because it sounded sooo bad. It also had the three speed floor shifted manual trans.
This build reminds me for some reaosn of that car, tastefully modified and very well done.

Re: '62 Valiant Coupe
Carps my first car was an S series Valiant and the one I have now was my dads, so I've always liked the unique look of these cars, but I know they are in the love/hate category too.
Tezza...well where do I start, not sure whether to add this to the workshop post or here but anyway....
The custom body work includes the front air-dam, all the inner fenders (had to put the humps in to allow the big 20"s to fit) and the complete firewall, which is closely modeled on the real thing. The molded on headlights were crap so I shaved them off and made new surrounds from sheet alloy and spun up some lenses from clear styrene rod. The external door handles are scratch built, as are the grille and emblem. I hinged the bonnet with the wire and tube method. The underside of the bonnet is detailed with correct framework, and I made a strut from wire to show off the Hemi. The seats are from ThePartsBox and the rears were reworked and detailed with spare matching headrests. The console is scratch from just styrene bits. The windows are clear sheet from packaging and tinted with real automotive window tint, but they are what slowed this whole build down.....they were a P.I.T.A!
The engine is the Hemi from the doner '71 Cuda kit with TPB rocker covers and alternator. The carbs are reworked versions from TPB that I "enhanced" and recast. Somewhere buried in that engine bay is a scratch steering box, ignition module and Optima battery. Turned alloy radiator cap and catch can were done on my lathe. Lots of Pro Tech braided used, even on the front brake lines
The chassis had to be shortened to fit the new wheel base and the front end (K frame and rails) narrowed to get the Pegasus rims to fit. Both the fuel and brake lines were added with brass and S/S wire, as were the sway bar, torsion bars and tie-rod. Wipers are P/E from Hobby Design. Taillights are made from clear red sprue..............phew I think that's it. Here's a couple of more pics to explain some of that.
Enjoy
TJ

Really like what you've achieved here, she's a beauty. Love the early Vals, and early 60s Dodges. Cheers

Thanks Fred, it's a nice feeling to see your work in print.
Axle, yeah third...beat by a girl and her high gloss 300C, but my Vicky rod got first, so no worry.
