Max Papis Miller/Harley Davidson 1999 Reynard

I thought it was time to actually do some modeling. I have always liked the look of the Reynard, and the blue of this special scheme was just too good not to do. The car represents the one that Max Papis drove during the 1999 season for team owner Bobby Rahal.
I started with the Revell #8 Shell Reynard and proceeded to remove the rear tail vane, plus while I was cutting and removing I also removed the front suspension arms, I like to make it easier to fill that joint line. I also cut through the bottom part of the tub, this will allow me to get the seat into the painted tub later on, I did it on the Bud car and it made life very easy, I think Dave T did this so i have borrowed the great tip.







So nothing too drastic as yet, I'm hoping for a quick easy build, I do love how these kits fit together so well.

I forgot to add an image of the car to remind those who cannot recall it. Unfortunately the wings for the Miller decals are not chrome on the Speedline decal sheet which is a shame but they will do.

Well seeing I have everything carved up and stuck together, I took the opportunity to get a flat black base coat on.

Thank you Allan, seeing we are still having some decent weather here I managed to get the flat black rubbed back, and then the lovely TS51 Racing Blue on the parts. I am hoping to get that nice deep blue with a great shine, I think/hope that once the decals are on and the 2K it will pop.....

After allowing the paint to dry for a week, I started on the decal process. I have to say for a small model this car has quite a few decals to apply. The flames on the nose cone are what intimidated me the most, so I left them till near the end. This I found out later was not a mistake but it did make it somewhat harder to get them into place. My previous experience with Speedline decals was with the Bud car and they went down well, this sheet was no different except for the silver but meant to be chrome flames which were a little fragile, this you can see on the top of the left hand side pod.
I will let these dry for approx a week and then look at getting the clear on and hope it helps the colour pop.

Looks pretty good from here, top job on the decals and that blue looks great in the light too mate.

Great work so far

With what seems like the last decent weekend weather wise for us here in Melbourne, I managed to get the 2K on. It went down well and I feel I won’t rub it back but just get this assembled now and hope to enter it in an upcoming comp in June.
So now it is onto the wheel, seat and suspension and all should be good and done.

Well i had hoped to get this one done for Expo this weekend, but some tyre decals did not make it in time and there have been some issues out of our control. So here is where i am with it now and all i can say is Expo 2016 this one will be on the tables.
