66 marlin mild custom
l though it was time to get stuck into some of my johan kits
l wanted to build this as a mild custom l wanted to try and copy the box art paint as close as possible
still need to do the bare metal and some other details to the body but this is mainly what it will look like
so far l have dumped as much as l could and changed the rims and tires
the interior is nearly done
the engine will be next which will souped a bit

Far out.
I've seen the pics on other JoHann boxes but never actually seen one of these in the plastic before.

Re: 66 marlin mild custom
When I first saw this I thought ugly car but since lookin at it again I've changed my mind the colour and the wheels with the stance and also the detailing of the interior just make this car pop. Awesome skills mate if I hadn't seen what you'd done with this car I would have past on this kit if it was available but now I'd buy it if I could

Re: 66 marlin mild custom
Looks great.
But any way of widening the rear track? The wheels look lost way back towards the middle of the car.

Re: 66 marlin mild custom
got a chance to work on this the last week engine detail is nealy done l ended up changing the carb setup to a tri setup and also changed the valve covers also made a alternator bracket and made a battery box l still need to add the coil and some water hoses
and brake lnes l also used black wash on the engine l wanted to look like this car was a daily driver and not a trailer queen
the interior is all done with a wheel from the parts box and some speaker grille l punched out from some fine mesh
and a new shifter and added some flocking
l was'nt really happy with the paint so l ended up striping and will think of paint later on
still need to figure out a custom grille

Re: 66 marlin mild custom
took a sickie from work today and decided to do some more work on the marlin
l started by working on the grille l have an old parts pack grilles that l have had for years and it was time that l used them
l also made some new headlights l still need to aclad them
this is the old grille
and this the new one
l decided to go with a light blue that l had lying around and some panel piant
l layed down purple base coat with a gold top coat it did'nt turn the way l wanted
but it's good enough still need clear coat and a good polish and finish off the bare metal
which l will do tonight
