Beechey Monaro
Back in the early seventies touring cars were the real thing - they had to resemble closely the cars you drove on the road, with only certain mods allowed to the engine and mods for safety purposes. Norm Beechey's 1970 HT Monaro even had the back seats still in it, but went on to narrowly win the 1970 Touring Car Championship from Allan Moffat's and Bob Jane's Mustangs. It was (obviously) sponsored by Shell and was the first Aussie V8 car to win the ATCC. This Classic Carlectables 1:18 scale diecast replica was released in 2005 and is one of my most prized models. It really is fabulous. Now when will someone bring out a 1:18 scale model of Beechey's famous (or infamous) FX Holden racer?
