Rat Bucket
New Project I'm working on. Going for a Rat T bucket look. Its all scrap sheet metal and welding rod that I've cut up, reshaped, and TIG welded together. For a sense of
scale, the rear slicks are about 2.5cm in diameter.
What I have so far, will post more photos when the project gets further along.

Re: Rat Bucket
Whoa! Now you have my attention, I'm a metal worker by trade so I'll be watching this.
Great work so far, very nice work on the pleated seat and the body bucket

Re: Rat Bucket
Very interesting, model building with steel. Being a rat rod the rust should turn out very realistic !! LOL. Looking good.

Re: Rat Bucket
some nice scratchbuilding there. have you considered filing the top of the doors to a curve, rather than leaving the top of the door that thick?
Re: Rat Bucket
Got some time to work on the bucket today:
Rear axle and differential
Shaped the body into more of the classic rounded bucket shape.
Quick mock up
front axle and leaf spring ready for welding
All welded
Still need to tack on the tank, and fabricate the headlights, tail lights, and wind screen

Re: Rat Bucket
VWMan... your work is awesome mate! ...no question about
it. Truly craftsmanship there. We do have another resident
metal model craftsman, by the name of "Sprint347dave" a very talented
modeller who turns basic metal bits into Auto Art Form such as yourself.
I'm sure there are plenty of us "Plastic Surgeons" here on this forum, eager
to see what you "Metallurgist" modellers have to show. Keep 'em coming!

Added a few more details to the Rat in the last few days, coming along nicely. Radius Rods, Moon tank, Headlights, and a wind screen.
