Holden Monaro LE Coupe
Had to get one of these , being a Monaro fan and owner , I can add this to my expanding collection of Monaro,s in small scale . This 1/18 scale from Classic Carlectables is awesome in the amount of detail it has.

Re: Holden Monaro LE Coupe
As you wish -- more pics! And the story goes when I was at a Holden Dealership in 1977 when these were released , I was there looking at this in the flesh , brand new , thinking , they were nice , but not big on power; but, that was then!

Re: Holden Monaro LE Coupe
Nice model I was never a big fan of the honey comb rims but they were different.
They made from all the left over parts of Monaros from over the years that is why you can see a HQ bumper with the HX grille. Still a nice ride.

Re: Holden Monaro LE Coupe
the story i heard on these was that an exec at GMH was wandering around fishermans bend and stubled across about 600 coupe bodies (HQ by the look of the rear bumper) slowly rusting away, this was after they had stopped making the coupes, instead of scrapping them they decided to sell them, and thats how these special "limited" edition HX coupes came to be !

Re: Holden Monaro LE Coupe
All coupes ran HQ rear bumpers. They where made from the last shells to get rid of them. Just like the cobras were.

Re: Holden Monaro LE Coupe
HQ Coupe's were being sold ex factory in Melbourne in 1976( along with Wagon and Statesman body shells) untill they were suspended as stated to create the HX Monaro LE . It appears that it was easy enough to use the existing running gear from the hx ,trim the interior out with Statesman leather and paint it with a Statesman red colour of the day and put some Gold decals on to make something different and saleable, plus add the"" piece der resistance"" an eight track cassette player so as to clear stocks. A lot of people didn,t like it then , too Luxxo, and the wheels, substitute almost instantly in 1977. As for the rear bumper, all Coupe's as Checkmate said , had the HQ style from day one to the last LE!
