A Close Enough ? 48-215 (FX) Holden
G'day there guys... As you might be aware?, I'm keen to build an array of "early Australian Speedway cars".
But it seems a very hard task to get some early bodies to make these cars. I had a vision to build a Holden FJ
or 48-215 (FX) "Stocky"
but geeeez, to get a resin body or even a slot car body, I would have to sell the house!
I was looking at all my other builds, when I spotted an older build that I was never really fond of,
and I thought YES!.... THIS MIGHT WORK!.... So I grabbed the '50 Oldsmobile and carefully
dismantled it.
I googled the dimensions of the 48-215 (FX), then converted these measurements to 1:25 scale measurements.
It worked out so far that I had to narrow the "Olds" by 7mm and shorten it by 30mm.
So far ...So good?...
Now for a bit of "togetherness"!...
And "fatten" up those front guards...
Back Soon!.... Cheers.

Took a big bite here Jezza but it looks like you are getting there. Keen to see how it shapes up at the end.

Re: A Close Enough ? 48-215 (FX) Holden
Thanks Dave? (Deaf as).... will keep you guys posted. At the end of the day (to the early Holden enthusiasts), they could probably "pick the ribs" out of it... but to me as long as it's close enough to a 48-215 or FJ, I'm happy. Speaking of "ribs"....
Work so far on the Roll cage and seat.... Floor pan was also shortened & narrowed to suit body. Had to modify the radiator to fit under the modified (cut-down) Bonnet.
Hopefully I'll have this car ready before the Speedway season starts!!!

Hey Jezza. Really impressed with your build. You have a keen eye for proportions and correct shapes. Have to ask, when did you first start chopping and modifying kits?

I sprung for the resin one - amusingly to build a model of a local speedway car that ended up in Fury Road.

You already have Ol' friend, and how have you been?... a few years back you sent me one of your resin "HOLDEN" engines..ourcircus wrote:Should have given me a call at AAA Resin Models Here in perth i could have helped you out
It's now taken pride and place in the engine bay of this car...
I have been out of building models for about 3 years now due to heart attacks and all else,
but just recently got my enthusiasm back and so here I am.

A look inside the "Office"...featuring scratch built roll cage, dash panel & seat. Holden engine supplied by
AAA Resin Models (Perth). Engine mods... breather pipe (paper clip), twin carbs and aircleaner, scratch built
exhaust extractors. Racing harness was "googled" and double printed onto paper, glued, then carefully cut
out and glued into place.
All under body may not be 48-215 or FJ but I cut & shut what I had and it's all starting to fit...
Not long now guys ... and this Stockcar will be ready for the track.. sorry...the "Showroom"
