Re: Scratchbuilt 1/5th scale MV 125 Agusta GTLS Motorcycle
Hi Sean
No problem, I'm happy to wait, don't have much choice hey
You have inspired me, partly because of my interest in bikes, partly because of models but mainly because what you are doing is so awesome.
I have a lot of skills to develop as well as a lot of other work/projects to get done but I think I want to follow in your footsteps.
I am currently part way through restoring an old bike and am seriously thinking of making a model of it at some stage, here's a couple of pics of it.
Cheers
Steve

Re: Scratchbuilt 1/5th scale MV 125 Agusta GTLS Motorcycle
Sorry, I should have known better
It is a 1914 P&M made by Phelon & Moore in Cleckheaton Yorkshire (UK of course), for those of you not familiar with this marque they ran from close to teh turn of the century through to 1967. In the mid twenties they started calling their "sports" machine a Panther, this name then ended up getting carried over to all of their machines. I also have 2 Panthers, a 1930 and a 1958.
The 1914 P&M was used by the RFC as a "despatch" machine. I also have a sidecar to go on it.
Hence my user name

Nice Pussy
I'd love a Panther combo. Or an M21. Nothing like a big old single firing once every lamp-post.

Re: Scratchbuilt 1/5th scale MV 125 Agusta GTLS Motorcycle
Gday all within the next 6 or so months I'm going to make an attempt to finish this project in time to take to the 2012 Melbourne Model Expo.
I've been slowly plugging away at it, currently working on fabricating the cylinder head (second attempt)! I plan on posting some photos soon.

Hey Sean, good to hear from you. I am really hoping you will be able to finish this bike project mate. It is a remarkable build and deserves to be seen at Model Expo 2012. If you have any more advanced build progress pics please post them here too. Best of luck to you.

Re: Scratchbuilt 1/5th scale MV 125 Agusta GTLS Motorcycle
Thanks Terry I'm trying to work out the cylinder head height ! when I measured the real bike this was one of the measurements I failed to record now the Museum no longer has the bike in it's collection! I've been on several MV Agusta forums putting the call out for someone with one of these bikes to provide me with the measurments but to date no one has helped
I'll work it out , what I'm doing is sandwiching each individual cooling fin on top of a blank cylinder disk and soldering in between layers.

Hi Sean , good to see you're about still and still going with this one . Good luck with the cylinder head info chase , have you checked the National Motorbike Museum at Nabiac to see if they have any info ?

This is their website Sean , http://www.nationalmotorcyclemuseum.com.au/index.html , Nabiac is around the Taree area on the Pacific Highway . They only show a 350B MV Agusta on their website but they have heaps of engines as well so it's possible they would have the engine you're building . It's worth contacting them anyway as friends have said the guy running it is a wealth of information and loves talking about old bikes .

Re: Scratchbuilt 1/5th scale MV 125 Agusta GTLS Motorcycle
No Terry I had it at the Vic Model Expo a few years back, thought it may have created a talking point but don't think much interest was shown. I've basicly burnt myself out from it a while back but I do want to get back into it very soon. I've struggled to get my modeling mojo back(think it may be burn out) I've got the airfix bentley a commission job to finish and several smaller 43rd scale builds also commission builds and then I'm hanging my hat up to commission work.
After that I want to focus on my scratchbuilt work being the MV125 and the BT24 Brabham, this is all to happen latter.
In short I really have to get my motivation back which is really getting me down at the minute, can't seem to focus on a project and finish it!!!
