I've seen some guys replace the kit glass with window tint film bought from places like Tint-a-Car and Autobarn. Other have airbrushed the smoke clear tamiya paint with success. I was going to experiment using food dye mixed with floor polish, at least if that doesn't work I can remove it with windex and try something else. If it works then you could tint in any colour, green, blue, red, grey, black, etc. Hmmm, might try this over the weekend. scratch

What ProBee said.
Bryce stop reading now.Very Happy
Tint Pledge One Go floor polish with food colouring and then dip the "glass".
Hold vertically so it all runs down the "glass" and wick excess from the bottom with a clean rag or piece of kitchen roll.
You need some sort of holding system (usually involves clothes pegs in my case) to hold the "glass" vertically while the polish dries.
A dust free area is imperative as every speck will show up on the "glass".
Several coats will be needed to get a dark tint.
This works best where there is a large area of "glass" hidden by bodywork as despite wicking excess away there will still be a darker area along the bottom where it collected. Plan for the hidden area to be at the bottom when suspending the "glass" to allow the polish to dry.

Hasegawa mirror foil appears to me to be exactly the same stuff as is used to mirror tint glass so I don't see why it couldn't be used on model windows.

Thanks Zenrat. I havn't tried the food colouring in the Pledge yet, It was a theory I had. Now I know it does work I can't wait to try it out. I love pledge, I use it on everything. It even makes my work bench look nice. Very Happy

There you go Marshie. Sometimes my theories are correct. It pays to stare into space sometimes and ponder. I've stripped most of my hobby room, and will post pics when done. Just give me a few weeks mate and I'll be back modelling.
