Yeah mate - that's the one.

Thanks for the compliment. Gotta say, this build is shaping up to be my best hot rod ever. It is coming along really well and will be a bit of a showcase of everything I have learnt over the last couple of years. Can't wait to have it finished now.

Adam
Yep - a flat black wash followed by lots of dry brushing using Humbrol No.56. Originally I painted them Tamiya flat aluminium along with the intake manifold, but they just looked too plain and boring so I started experimenting.
Damn, you would swear they're real cast aluminium. And this is just experimenting? I've known guy's that have been building show winners for years that would be proud of that finish

Re: Channelled '32 roadster
Geez guys, you’re making me blush with all these nice words…
Thought I’d give you a sneak peek of the paint job. Just got some clear on today and pretty happy with how it’s coming along.

Re: Channelled '32 roadster
Rubbish.
Strip it and do it again.
Not really. That's great. Blacks a bastard but looks like you've nailed it and the decals seem nice and thick so there's no translucency problems over the paint.

Thanks guys - just going to let that paint gas out for a few weeks and then I'll whack it all together, so should be finished soon.

Re: Channelled '32 roadster
I like the bent wire front shock mounts.
I presume they fit into holes drilled into the chassis?
I will have to steal that idea...

Re: Channelled '32 roadster
Thanks guys.
Last update on this one before it hits the shelf, which should be some time tomorrow if all goes according to plan…
Just wanted to show off some of the detail including club plaque, streamlined headlights, skull shifter, seat belts and chopped windscreen.
I’m still thinking about making a bonnet for it and not sure whether to cap the wheels or leave them open…
Here’s a sneak peek of where things are at:

That is looking slick Bryce. Personally I like the "uncapped" wheels - it suits this style of rod. The flames really set it off.
