Back in the saddle, sort of.
Started this one as a replica of another 1/1 scale car. Big difference compared to Pete's yellow deuce is that the 1/1 car is not yet built, the chassis is underway and the body selected but the owner can't decide on wheels or some of the finer details.
So I've set up a few wheel options, what do you guys think he should go with?
1. Big and wide ET11 with spindle mounts up front and hi tech low profile rubber
2. Big n little early Ford wires with WWWs
3. Early American Mags
4. American Torque Thrusts
5. Convo pros with pro street Mickey Thompsons and front runners
6. Steelies with WWWs
7. Steelies and blackwalls, pie crust rear slicks
8. Early Halibrands with WWWs & Pie crust rear slicks
9. Early ETs rear with 12 spokes up front.

Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
Me I would go with the torque thrust or early American mags, but with aluminum looking centers, and spokes, but then again it does hinge on what he is looking for as for style of build,

Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
I like photo 6, Steelies with white walls. I even think it would look great pale green.
Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
but I'm kinda stuck on white walls at the moment...
First pic looks good too, as do the wires. Where'd you get those big arse WWWs on the rear wire wheels?
Is the '30 one of the new re-issues Carps or from your secret stash?

Funny you should mention that, but it's a special light green.Shoey wrote:I even think it would look great pale green.
I think the big wires and tyres are from the AMT Chrysler Imperial, there's a few kits have big wires like this that match the early ford ones in the AMT '34 kits. Some of the Revel German Classics also have similar wheels and tyres.Bryce wrote:Where'd you get those big arse WWWs on the rear wire wheels?
It's one from my stash, anytime I saw one I would buy it, so I still have a few.Bryce wrote:Is the '30 one of the new re-issues Carps or from your secret stash?

Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
I really like tthe first one but it really comes down to what look he's after
Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
Engine is '56 Ford Y block, with six carbs (using modified manifold and carbs from AMT Nailhead Buick from '36&'40 Ford kits), finned Buick drum brakes, early Halibrand quick-change on model A spring. Model A radiator & shell instead of Deuce parts.allan wrote:what u going with the engine,
He dosn't know coz there's too many choices and of course all the options I've giiven him haven't made it any easier. In the end he may have more than one set of wheels made for the 1/1 car.doorslammerfan wrote:I really like tthe first one but it really comes down to what look he's after

Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
given the motor set up, i reckon that wheel sets 1,3,4 & 5 are out
2 or 9 seem to fit the style.
If only I had that sort of choice problem.
What do I put on my 1:1 hot rod build?

His choice of parts has number 6 written all over it, either with WWW or Blackwalls................Timeless and Traditional

Re: Back in the saddle, sort of.
.
We have a decision!
As is often the case in Hot Rodding, it turned out to be none of the above
Chrome wheels are from Revell '49 Merc', tyres are resin cast from the Parts Box. I little grinding to make the tyres fit the wheels and we have 'lift-off'.
