I'm back!
Well, since the Hybrid Camry is launched and I've sent my American tourists home, I guess the holiday is over and it's time to get down to work.
I started this one a couple of months back by detailing some wheels and opening an AMT '27 T Police car kit for the H.A.M.B build-off.
Yesterday I figured if I got stuck in, maybe I could get it done over the weekend, so yesterday I procrastinated and today I started.
Magenta paint is Testors spray can Lacquer, chassis is silver flake, other bits are Humbrol bright green enamel and various metalisers. Engine is the baby Hemi from AMT Ala Kart, pretty much as it comes, but with four carbs instead of injection.
Wheels, tyres and rear end are resin from The Parts Box.
The chassis needed an extra crossmember up front to take the Hemi but the gearbox mounts to the original T trans crossmember. Some relieving of the chassis and body panels was required to allow header clearance and for some strange reason the hood doesn't fit over the engine. The front suspension crossmember was removed, modified and reinstalled about 2 scale inches lower. Even with the dropped axle it still sits pretty high which is typical late '50s/early '60s full fendered car set-up. The rear spring is the one from the kit, so it sits about stock height.
Interior will be pretty much from the box, with a couple of small upgrades but not much. Windscreen has been chopped and I may try and cop the top too.
This one is definitely no contest winner, but I'm likein' the way it's turned out, the look is early '60s and it's only taken a day's work to get it done.

Re: I'm back!
Very nice Carps - the engine and wheels are really great to look at. But surely not every build needs to be a contest winner. There's lots to be said for building a model just for the fun of it?

Re: I'm back!
Hey Terry, this one has no chance of winning anything, the fun of the build and the contest is what it's about.
Hell, If I built to win contests, I'd go nuts, besides I'm doing the trophies also. I just build what I like, enjoy the fun and on those strange occasions where I've come up the winner, send the trophy to the second place dude.
