1963 Galaxie 4 door
Hi all, this will be the Galaxie raced in Aus in 63/64 by Lex Davison and Norm Beechey. I have grafted a roof from a 64 Thunderbolt kit onto AMT's 63 Fastback Galaxie. I had to modify the C-pillar to suit the Galaxies shape and window frames and trim have been made from Evergreen strip. The mechanicals will be supplied by AMT's 1960 Starliner kit which fits almost like a glove apart from removing 4-5mm from the rear of the chassis and the chassis rails. I have to make a whole new interior as the AMT Galaxie interior shared only the dash with this particular 4 door. It will be a rare full engine detail model for me as I usually build curbside style.
The hole in the rear grill will have an exposed racing style fuel filler.
The rear seat was the original Starliner kit part but I sanded off the detail and added some evergreen sheet that I scribed the new detail onto. The piping is fishing line.
Any questions, feedback, tips or actual references of the car are most welcome.
Thanks SS

Ah what a beast that Galaxie was - tons of grunt but absolutely "shizenhousen" brakes. That didn't matter as the first few laps always belonged to this baby. Good to see it being replicated - nice modification so far Shawn. Will you also do the two-door version at some stage?

A beast indeed Tezza. I do plan to do the Baillie/Davison/Raeburn 2-door version. I also originally planned to resin cast this body and do it in the original red and as it was in Neptune colours with the tear drop hood, but the Gals a big body and casting is a expensive and time consuming thing so I ditched that idea to go for getting the model finished.
Hopefully I'll be motivated enough to finish the interior soon and then I can begin painting.
