Re: scrap steel model art
WoW great sheet metal work, I can relate to that...
I see some nice blower pulleys for a large scale project.

Re: scrap steel model art
OK,,just occurred to me that the no2 van has to travel 4,324 km to reach its new owner,,and the new owner is in the middle of a 5840 km round trip,,,but they have both come within metres of each other on opposite sides of the road crossing paths heading in opposite directions ,,1 heading west the other heading east on the "only" and same road.

Re: scrap steel model art
bit of an update,,,Panelvan no2 is with its new owner,,,,was missing in perth for 5 days,,a few phone calls to the perth depot and it turned up,,
Tony was totally surprised and loves the van
i will copy the comment i have on my facebook page to tell the full story
i enjoy reading different things that are happening on facebook.
every now and again you see something that is pretty special,,involving pretty special people.
Van no2 is a surprise gift for 1 of those special people,,,i have never meet him,,and more than likely never will,,but am very happy he is a facebook friend.
i love making things out of scrap steel,,and i was made aware that someone loves the 1st panelvan I made ,,so i had to check this person out,,
thats when i noticed what he and his family and friends were doing.
Tripping Across Australia for Starlight Children's Foundation.
http://fundraisingforstarlight.gofundraise.com.au/page/SmithTonyTrippin
i dont have a lot of money so my donation would be limited ,so i bounced an idea off Bec and decided why not spend 5 or 6 hours and make a van similar to the 1 he loves,,
i emailed his wife,,trying not to sound like a weird person,,lol,,explain who i was and what i was doing,,finished the van and mailed it 4,324 km to reach its new owner in WA Perth.
.
i tracked the van while it was trucked across australia,,,,,then i just starting laughing,,at some point during the week it took to get there ,the Van and its new owner crossed paths, within metres of each other on the only road joining east and west australia,,him heading east ,,the van heading west,,him being part way through his 7200km trip across australia and back ,,,the van part way through its 4324kms,,funny.
the plan was for the van to be there when he got home from his trip,,,,but that didnt happen,,for 5 days the van disappeared ,,not happy jan,,lots of phone calls to perth trucking depot and it reappeared ,,,i though it was long gone.
so now PANELVAN 2 is with its new owner,,,Tony you are a very special guy,,what you and your family and friends are doing to help sick kids is great
as you can see with my other scrap steel stuff ,,i dont do windows ,,insides or colours,,,,but im all for it if you add your special touch to PANELVAN 2,,
hope you enjoy the surprise.
while van2 was missing i started van3 to replace it,,,i will post some pics soon

Re: scrap steel model art
Great stuff Dave, it's not very often people do something for somebody they don't even know, it will mean a hell of a lot to him, especially when he gets to tell people about it. ( I know, i have had something special sent to me from somebody i had never met, only ever spoken too, and now that something means a heck of a lot more to me than they normally would.).
