Gordon the 1940 Ford Delivery Van
Alright you lot have talked me into it.
Here's my first WIP so be gentle
This is Gordon the 1940 Ford.
Why Gordon?
Well it's an AMT kit so when I opened it the first thing I thought was "Flash Ahh Ah"
I'm thinking he is a Coca Cola Delivery Van.
Not a stocker, wide steelies, probably not the flat head but I'll build it to see which I prefer when the glue it in part comes.
I've started sorting out the flash, sink holes, and pin marks.
I must say that I am in awe of you folk who build AMT all the time, need a big ticker to do the prep work before you can start modeling
Here's a quick pic of the started V8.
Anyhoo that's a start, I'll try to keep up with the pics.

Pics showing here no probs. Not a fan of the 40 fords but I do like the vans / delivery body style.
Looks good so far.

Re: Gordon the 1940 Ford Delivery Van
I think I can feel an update coming on
Got the day off tomorrow, got to have a look at a water pump for a mate and then into the model zone.
I'll take some happy snaps to let you all know what I've been up to, not huge volumes but at least I'm having a bit of a go.

Re: Gordon the 1940 Ford Delivery Van
Here it is... the update
Got the body in it's first coat of primmer, using Alclad grey for the first time, quite impressed, came out of the gun really well.
Here's a pic with a Mini waiting for it's turn. The Mini is going to be a 1/24 copy of the one in the shed if I ever get either finished.
Next up is the custom exhaust, can't have a V8 with a pea shooter now can we...
First time with plug boots, not too bad, a bit fiddly.
Going to do away with the steel rod axle, after all it is for static display.
got the headers painted just need to line every thing up and chop them.
Engine sitting in the chassis.
Wheels with valve stems, still need painting and weathering.
And finally a random collection of bits...

Re: Gordon the 1940 Ford Delivery Van
Thanks for all of the positive comments.
A question for those far wiser than me...
Would the underside of the body be all one colour, say semi gloss black or would the different components be a mixture of colours?
Did they paint the whole floor black?

Thanks Mate,
That's where I was headed.
Once I find some batteries for the camera I'll stick up a couple of pics.

Re: Gordon the 1940 Ford Delivery Van
I promise I did take some pics, I just have to take a brief moment to post them
I've been in the shed cutting the floor out of my Mini, not in the hobby room cutting up styrene.
Just need to find a happy balance.
Then this week is Origin 3 plus the Ashes start, might be able to do a bit whilst watching the cricket.

Re: Gordon the 1940 Ford Delivery Van
Thanks Guys,
I've been revisiting Shawns XE thread and it's inspired a bit of creativity and inventiveness.
Ordered some paint for the body so hopefully I might get to throwing some paint at the big girl.
