Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
This is still on the bench, but whilst looking for reference pics I found a starting point for a real 1:1 '68 Dayclona!

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
Decisions, Decisions ! ! !
I've got the suspension to a point where I could mock it up for a look and I'm kinda not liking the stockish wheels,
Originally when I was getting this build together I was going to use some BIG wheels in keeping with the style I was building and now I'm swinging back in that direction I think! these where destined for my SMIK '56 but that to changed direction so I'm thinking they don't look half bad on this. Just need to repaint the centers semi gloss black!
Stockish or Modern? .....what cha think?.........................keep in mind the interior is already fairly modern and Bigger wheels mean I can throw on some big brakes too!

Go the big wheels and brakes dude, it fits the theme a lot better, and those stockers look way to plain for it.

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
Yeah big wheels are more my style but the stockies won't get wasted!! as for brakes I have been itching to use my Scale Auto Style (SAS - no longer in business ) photoetched brake set on something and now might be a good time! stay tuned

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
Wheels are done I re-machined the rears to give them some dish as the fronts are narrower and I've got the brakes started
..............but I'm thinking the deadline may need tweaking, How's your builds going?

Yeah - those wheels look tops! And much tougher than boring old steelies.
Feel free to tweak away on the deadline - nothing is coming off my bench in a hurry!

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
I haven't forgotten about this one, although I wish I had!!! It's been a right royal bitch and given me nothing but trouble, Rear wheels were not centered and the interior wouldn't fit.
Here's some more.......
Experimenting with heat stains on the exhaust (Practice for GAS #5!!)
Installed this in case something goes up in smoke (Besides the tyres!!)
And here's Windscreen #3 ( )
Don't know if this will make it in or not.................

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
This ones back to the front of the bench,I really wanna try and clear some WIP's that have been collecting dust here.
The main thing holding this build up was the lack of enthusiasm with engine detailing, so I bit the bullet and got back into it by machining a custom distributor with a styrene top that has 9 holes and made some plug leads with the method Stump shared with us, I gotta say it's a bit tedious but comes out looking great!!! and yes it's the correct firing order
I also changed the Carbs for a bit of extra hood clearance!

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
Can't believe this one is actually nearing the end!!
Chassis, Interior and Body are now 1,
Exhausts are installed,
And the rear is done,
Still a lot to do in the engine bay, then the wing and front can go on.............................I can almost see the finish line!!

Re: '68 Dodge Dayclona (Back in action)
Guess this one deserves an update...........
There's still a fair few things to finish but here's how it sits so far,
...yes, your reading that number plate correct
...couple more months and it might be done
