1/8th Pocher T50 Bugatti build
I started this build about 2 years ago now for a client that at the time decided he didn't want to go through with it to completion, I intern inhereted a half completed pocher Bugatti . I put the model away because of other commitments and just recently decided I would build it with the intensions of marketing it once completed.
I will document the build in photographic form with perhaps some text as I really not much good with words!!
So far as can be seen from the photos The engine and chassis has been completed the model is going to be completed straight out of box with just a few small scratchbuilt details.
Heres the photos

Oh God - I have one of these big Bug kits in my stash waiting to be built. So this is what I'm in for is it? You're doing a great job of scaring the shite out of me Sean, but I admire your work and will watch this build with great interest. Maybe I can write it up for ModelArt Australia magazine in the near future?

So how do you arrange things when this happens Sean?
Who buys the kit?
I'm guessing you get a non-returnable deposit when you start and then charge per hour as you go?
I'm just being nosey so tell me to get knotted if you don't want to go into details about your finances.

The bug kit is the best kit to build of all the classic pocher kits not the biggest but to my mind the easiest one to put together giving less hassles with poor fitting parts etc.tezza43 wrote:Oh God - I have one of these big Bug kits in my stash waiting to be built. So are a lot of parts metal Sean or is that just the finish you've got on them ?

Ian the model is multimedia but no parts are cast in white metal all metal parts are pressed steel and nickel plated , very much like you would find the parts on a photoetched fret.
The engineblock ,head, diff housing and gearbox housing are all cast plastic parts but the chassis rails are pressed steel pieces and need to be to hold the weight of the finished model.
I have airbrushed parts such as engine , gearbox, diff , brake backing plates and wheel rim centres an bright silver to better replicate the look of polished metal on the real car.
The exhaust has been airbrushed in a number or different metalic color tones so as to replicate heat staining .
I also like to give all of my parts a wash of raw umber artist oil mixed with turpintine and applied with a reasonably thin brush this really brings a model to life and can take a model from looking Toy like to giving it a real look, but it's very easy to over do the application.
