Re: Tri-Five Community Build
Good stuff everyone.
Allan. Apart from frenched headlights with smoothed surrounds and filled parking lights I was going to go for a stock front with body colour chrome. However, i'm getting drawn more towards 60's style rather than 80's which'll mean alclading the chrome i've stripped.
Does anyone have a spare pair of the stock front bumperettes? The upper ones with the parking lights mounted in them?
Paint will be Holden Aquarius which is an aqua (although more towards the green end of the aqua spectrum that the Deep Aqua I used on the Monte Carlo Delivery). Single colour if I go for 80's. 2 toned with a lighter shade if I go for 60's.

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
Cool tow truck, looks like you're almost finished another one!
Finally I've got something to show.
This kit is such a mess, check out the body.
After a few good hours of sanding and filling I was finally able to give it a hit of primer. Looks much better now.

Wow joe, that was a crap one, I've had 4 or 5 of these and they have never been that bad. Good job on getting it tidy, can't wait for the paint on this one.

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
Is that the AMT '55 Clutch?
'Truck looks good DSF. I just picked up one of these but don't know what to do with it.
I've been hacking at the sump of my motor. I neglected to check it's fit before I painted it and there is a cross member in the way.

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
Man I see you shoot builds out one after another, that's kind of why I built the two T's so quickly, just tryin to keep up. But knowing you, you'll have your Nomad finished before me and be on to your next.doorslammerfan wrote:I might start the 55 nomad next Joe so no excuses for not finishing ahead of me lol
P.S I say stacks for sure!
Yeah it's the AMT kit. Every part has as much flash as the body so it's been a long clean up process. Probably the worst kit I've ever bought.

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
mine was the light green issue with all the original parts, very little flash at all . Yours looks like the "new release" RC2 issue ie the basic cr@p thats being issued for the last 30 odd years
Re: Tri-Five Community Build
The flash'll be due to old worn moulds then.
You want a bad AMT kit?
Get the '69 camaro ss396 ragtop. That thing was crude when the moulds were new.
I did a spot of unbuilt kit box rummaging last night and robbed a set of buick rear lights from the AMT '50 Ford convertible for my '56. I also robbed the lowrider wheels from an AMT '70 Monte Carlo which I think i'll use instead of the more modern rims I mocked the thing up with.
Allan sent me some bumperettes. Thanks Allan. You're a star.
Now I can have matching double decker bumpers at both ends.

C'mon, nothing tops the '57 Thunderbird for those honours IMHO...lol
Someone did a very nice job on the new box art for that Nomad though - it looks great.
Here's what I did to mine many, many years ago:

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
Good old AMT hey!
On a postive, atleast they give you plenty of filling and sanding experience.
Very nice Nomad Bryce, I've picked out almost the same colour for mine. How did you paint the thin red line on the rims? looks perfect.

Thanks mate. It's an oldy so best not look too closely... It's actually the first model I built after a 5 year break. The colour is Tamiya clear red over a gold flake base.

With a brush.

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
Alright Joe times up lol. nah just kidding.Broke the seal on the box last week Tuesday I think ,tidied up the minimal flash lol(just had to add that bit) chiseled ,ground most of the molded on exhaust off.
Wednsday assembled most of the engine and painted the chassis. Friday did the suspension and painted the interior, added a rollbar and now the seats dont fit .anyhow painted body 1st colour this afternoon ,dont know when I'll get back to it pics here

if you feel the need, not much to look at though

Re: Tri-Five Community Build
I cut the braces from the door openings last night and lightly sanded the body.
It needs a smidge more filler.
